Deanna is the BEST of the Best! She did my eyeliner amongst other things and I couldn't be happier. I like that she's conservative at first. Then after things heal up, you can come back for a touch up to make things darker and/or thicker which I did. She's very professional yet friendly. I was comfortable with her the first time at my consultation. I had a bad experience with a tattoo esthetician for my eyeliner 20 yrs ago who gave me uneven eyeliner and didn't use numbing cream which left me skittish of the whole deal. As my uneven eyeliner started to fade, I was hesitant to redo them. Many of my friends and family had theirs done and recommended their estheticians to me but I was not comfortable or trusting their facility. Deanna, on the other hand, is at the other end of the spectrum: her facility is clean, she is professional, she's licensed, she fixes other esthetician's messed up work, she has real patients with before and after pictures, she has pride in her work, she has patience, and she's a perfectionist. However, the best part about her is her honesty.
I initially came to her about camouflaging a couple of scars I have in which the dermatologists couldn't help me with. At first she refused to do them unless she's 100% sure and certain that they'll be completely camouflaged. That's awesome, someone refusing to take my money because she cares about the outcome of her work. This tells me she's a perfectionist and that she's meticulous. Perfect person to do my eyeliner! From that point on, Deanna did my eyeliner, scar camouflage and re-pierced my ears. I trust no one except Deanna!
Oh, and about pain, there's minimal pain. She has techniques. -

A couple of years ago I left Deanna a Review after having my eyebrows done and I thought I would update it as believe she is amazing at her profession.
She listens to your concerns and asks you all the questions necessary to make sure you both come to the same result as a team. "what more can you ask"?
What makes you feel beautiful and happy is Deanna's goal for all her clients.

Been debating for years about permanent eyeliner but was hesitant to pull the trigger. I took it as a sign to finally say yes when a friend of mine said she knows someone who does it and was considering getting her eyes done as well .
Went to see Deanna together with my friend and we both got our eyes done . I only had the top lid done and I am very pleased with the process and the results. Deanna is very meticulous, professional and exercises extreme patience when applying her skill . I can't speak enough about how impressed and satisfied I am with her work.
I went in for a follow up visit and was relieved to know the process was quicker and again she uses precision.
This is her stamp of quality and those of us who have benefited from her talent display it proudly .
I highly recommend Deanna for any of the services she offers ! It's obvious she loves what she does . You won't be disappointed ! -

I went to Deanna after doing a lot research and drove over an hour to see her. Let me tell you she is AMAZING! She is truly an artist and would go back to her over and over again for my permanent makeup needs. She takes the time to work on perfecting the shape and look of the area. Don't wait! Make an appointment and see her right away. Her pricing is very reasonable as well.

Deanna is simply AMAZING! ... TRULY! I am the most pain- sensitive chick on the planet and was very hesitant to get my brows done because of fear of the pain... Well I'm here to tell u that her numbing techniques are incredible! 6 days ago I went in with mousy, minimal, not much to work with eyebrows and came out with fantastic, fabulous, perfect brows that I have gotten so many compliments on already!... It did hurt a little bit (as any tattoo would) ... But it was VERY MINIMAL PAIN & COMPLETELY TOLERABLE ..... DEFINITELY WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!
Deanna is the most creative and professional esthetician I have ever known!! I now am considering getting eyeliner and possibly even my lips done by her! A little Christmas present to myself!!!12/2/2015

Found Deanna on Google while searching for a solution for several scars on the back of my scalpe from a bad hair transplant.
I asked her to only tattoo a small area just in case it didn't meet my expectations. Well its been a few weeks now and not even my hair dresser notice it. Needless to say I'm now ready to book my next secession. -

Deanna is a true Esthetic - Meticulous Artist! She did my eyebrows around 8 years ago and my eyebrow naturally faded with no weird discoloration that you get from the other Permanent makeup artist that claim to say that they know what they are doing? I can't believe how long they lasted and how natural my eyebrows looked! I am due to see her! Can't wait to see her soon! She is so sought after and "Hope" she is able to see me ASAP! Deanna is fantastic!!! Got brows done today and I couldn't be happier! Her attention to detail and patience was so comforting and reassuring. She was meticulous in drawing out my brows. I came in with almost no natural brow hair at all. She created, freehand, anything better than I could have imagined. She uses numbing cream so there is little to no pain at all! I met Ms Deanna Lein over 15 yrs ago in a plastic surgeons' office. I was so amazed by her beauty and especially her eyebrows.They were perfect... without the hint of anything having been done to them. I took her card and said when I get older I may need your services... Well 10 yrs later ..my eyebrows began to thin out.. I called and made an appt. Deanna is a perfectionist and extremely detail oriented with her work. I wanted a brushed, light, natural"hairlike" look not a dark unnatural look.
I was so pleased with the result...
the color was perfect. I didn't have to worry about my eyebrows any more .People are astonished that my eyebrows are done with permanent makeup... so am I!!!
Ms Lein has moved from San Diego to Lake Mission Viego area. I drove to her new salon becuz yes i can go locally but i want the best!!!!!... After all its my face were talkin' about ...

I was referred to Deanna by my daughter's coworker. She had her eyebrows done by Deanna and absolutely loved the results. Because of this, I skipped the initial consultation and had my eyebrows done less than a month later.
I had a wonderful experience- the facilities were clean and Deanna was super attentive. My eyebrows were a two step process: the first time around, Deanna was very conservative with the shape and pigment to ensure I would be happy with the results. The second time around, Deanna touched up any spots I thought needed it and was just as professional and mindful as the first time.

Deanna is beyond amazing! She is definitely the best in the business!! She did my eyeliner and eyebrows and my only regret is that i didn't find her sooner!! She is meticulous and makes sure you happy every step of the way! Not only do I love how much time I save getting ready but my husband just loves how natural and perfect it looks!! I came in as moral support for a friend getting her eyebrows done today. Having worked in the beauty industry myself, as well as a business owner, I have to say, Deanna was incredible. From her warm and welcoming demeanor, to her professionalism and outstanding permanent make up. She completely redesigned and sculpted such a gorgeous brow, myself and my friend were blown away! I had been looking for years for someone to do my eyebrows and I finally found Deanna about 5 years ago. I booked my consult and she walked me through everything, I felt so comfortable with her and how detailed she was I booked my apt. I have to say one of the best decisions and money well spent! I have VERY thin eyebrows and trying to make them look "natural" on my own was impossible...now, know one can even tell I had them tattooed on, yes she is THAT good. I went back for a touch up recently and again as happy as ever. She is highly talented, professional and overall a great person.

My eyebrows were virtually nonexistent. I wanted a natural looking permanent eyebrow that was drawn in life-like single hair small lines. I have been contemplating getting my eyebrows tattooed for a long time now, but was extremely hesitant and scared of the procedure, I mean it is my face. A girlfriend of mine got her brows done and they looked so amazing that I asked for the artist info, and have not been able to stop thinking about getting it done ever since. So last week, I finally followed through and drove to see Deanna from San Diego, CA. My biggest fears going in were that my eyebrows would either turn out too dark, or not a shape that I would really love. Deanna made me feel so comfortable. She spent a long time giving me a very thorough consultation, and going over the shape and color and drawing them on for me until we found a shape that I loved. Once we got started, my fears went out the window. Deanna's professionalism and confidence left me with no doubts that I was in good hands.
My brows look fabulous and it saves me so much time in the morning when I am getting ready and putting on my make up. I love waking up feeling and looking so put together first thing in the morning. Prior to getting this done a couple girlfriends were telling me they thought I was crazy...but after seeing my brows they think they look amazing and are very impressed with how natural and great they look.
I didn't even realize what a huge difference this procedure would actually make. I am so happy that I got this procedure, and met Deanna. My only regret is that I waited so long! Thanks Deanna, I'll see you for my follow up in 2 months!! -

I went to Deanna after reading her reviews, so I thought I would add mine as well.
Deanna is a professional, she knows her art and is meticulous about the job she does, for her it is personal. I was the beneficiary of that kind of excellence.
Along with her attention to detail, she is patient, calm and nurturing as she works. She never loses awareness that it is painful and that you feel vulnerable. She applies numbing gel throughout the process to insure as much comfort as she can provide. She remains steady and firm in spite of the inevitable flinching as she works.
I met with Deanna ahead of time to show her the way I wear my makeup, and to discuss colors and preferences. Looking over her book was very reassuring, and I was able to point to exactly what I wanted...I am pleased to say, that was exactly what I got.
This is not a procedure that should be undergone with an amateur, I know, I did. Deanna was able to fix the shape and color of what I'd had done years earlier, lesson learned. I highly recommend Deanna for her work, her ethic and her nurturing nature while remaining steady handed and determined to get your makeup done right.

If you've been thinking about getting permanent make up but haven't because you didn't know who to trust, look no further. Deanna Lien is truly an artist. I first saw eyeliner she did for a friend of mine. It was perfect! Precise, even, and correctly placed for maximum enhancement to her hazel eyes. I didn't even know it was permanent eyeliner. I always thought my friend was an expert at doing her eyes!
My cousin, who has alopecia, had permanent eyebrows and eyeliner and I had lash enhancement. I didn't know what to expect and had concerns about the pain. But Deanna effectively numbed the area prior to the procedure so that it's very comfortable. My cousin was absolutely thrilled that she no longer has to create eyebrows every day. Yes - believe it or not, a man can have permanent makeup done too! And, I have to tell you - Deanna did an amazing job! I couldn't be happier with my new look!
So, what did she do, you may be wondering? Well - she did some work on my eyebrows - she added some brushstrokes where my eyebrows are thinning, and she also did an eyelash enhancement. I realize that no one else may notice what was done, but to me, what she did has made a big difference in my appearance, and that makes me feel very good.
Deanna is a true artist when it comes to the face. She seems to know just what someone needs to enhance their appearance without making it look fake. For me, my biggest fear was looking like I had pencilled in eyebrows and eyelashes, but the work she did was so subtle, yet so darn good! On top of doing exceptional work, she's very sweet and very caring with terrific customer service.
I not only recommend Deanna and Artistry Of Permanent Makeup to other men, but to women, too! When you see her portfolio of her work, you'll be blown away, so do yourself a favor and set up the free consultation like I did. You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain!

Wasn't sure what to expect but Deanna's reviews led me to give her a try. I'm so glad I did. She's a real professional, listens and takes time to make sure you are happy with colors, shape and details of your makeup. I went in planning to have my eyebrows done and once I met Deanna and saw the pictures of her work I had her do my lips and eye liner too!
As others have mentioned she is excellent on her follow up. I just had my two month "touch up" visit. Deanna shines here as well. She's very detailed and dedicated to her clients. She is a true artist. Very patient and kind.
This is a painful process so be ready for it. The end result is worth it, I am so happy! It's wonderful to wakeup in the morning and have 99% of your makeup DONE! Going to the beach and the pool - makeup DONE!
Her prices are reasonable and comparable. I don't recommend trying to SKIMP to save a few dollars on permanent makeup.

So I have learned my lesson with Permanent make up.....do your research. I have had no eyebrows since I was very young. Some childhood memories made me realize why. So I have a problem growing hair there. I decided about 15 years ago I wanted to do Permanent make up. Shame on me for not doing my research. Had a real bad experience the first time getting it done in NJ. That lady gave me a complex and screwed up my eyebrows. So when relocating to San Diego I went to beauty school which also had permanent make up. Well my eyebrows were so bad anything was better. Believe it or not the school did WAY BETTER then the Asian lady in NJ. Years later I started working at a spa and they hands down told me about Deanna and how Awesome she was. So it took me a good year before I had the confidence to call her. I was real nervous to try another place. The First Lady really messed me up. So finally seeing Deanna she really listen to my concerns and problems. I was scared but she did a correction on me and WOW! She fixed the color and shape. She did a beautiful job on what she had to work with. She has a gift to her job. So it has been 3 years and I needed to return to her and get a touch up. I couldn't go to anyone else. So I hunted her down and found out she relocated to Orange County. She thought it was far for me since I was in San Diego. I had NO PROBLEM driving to her. I have learned my lesson don't let anyone do permanent make up. Do your research. So I went back to Deanna. It was nice to catch up with her since I hadn't seen her in a few years and she asked me overall what am I looking for this time. With doing my eyebrows 3times all ready I knew what shade I wanted and she had done such a great job with what she had to work with that I knew the color needed to go darker. So we talked and ready to go. I have a problem with the pain. So she doubled up on numbing both times. I always tell people that this hurts and I don't recommend it unless u ABSOLUTELY need it. So after my second service with Deanna she blew my expectations again. With doing my retouch up she fixed my tones and gave me a darker color and I'm soooooo happy with it. Deanna is hands down great at her job. She has past my expectations. She was able to fixed my problems and color. Her price wasn't bad at all. Knowing her work I felt I got a great deal. If I was able to give her 5 more stars I would no doubt...GO SEE HER! U won't be disappointed. Thanks Deanna! I'll see you again lady!

Finally, I can wear my hair short again!
A few years ago, with great BLUNDER, I decided to get hair transplant. The aftermath, was a nasty scar in the back of my head. So, I decided to contact the AOPM for a free consultation. I wanted the scar disappear...so, I decided to get a permanant tattoo over it. I spoke with Deanna and felt very comfortable with her. When I met with Deanna, she explained the procedure thoroughly; Additionally, she was very professional and sweet. The procedure was very short and INEXPENSIVE! It has been a week and i can't see the scar anymore. I am so happy with the job she has done that I highly recommend her work to any gentleman who is in the same situation. You don't have to wear hats on a daily basis! THANK YOU DEANNA.

Well, this is an easy review! I drove all the way from San Diego County for Deanna. I had permanent makeup on my lips about 10 years ago, in San Diego, and although I liked it, it didn't really "take" 100% and had a very slight blue tinge. This time, I researched, mostly through Yelp and then, website "before and after" pictures for Orange County and San Diego permanent makeup artists. Deanna won that test hands down! Look at her website before and after pics! So, although she encouraged an initial consultation, I preferred sending her before and after pics, and we came up with a very "fair" price on the phone for my eyebrows, liner, and lips. She was very easy to communicate with and was honest, thorough and upfront with her policies, her procedures and her aftercare. Now, the important part:: she did a fantastic job! I have never worn much makeup, so I wanted a very "natural" look, but one that rejuvenated my appearance (I am in my mid-50's), and one where I wouldn't have to wear any other make-up except maybe some foundation/bronzer. Well, within a week, after all the swelling was down, I received TONS of compliments, mostly people not knowing what was different, but that I looked really great! Deanna is an absolute professional and made sure at both of my visits (you receive a complimentary "touch up") that you get what you want, with her recommendations as you want them, and that you are HAPPY with the results. She gives you plenty of her time, and she also happens to be very personable interesting, warm, and very easy to be with (we spent a long time together for 3 areas!). She made sure I was comfortable, and never begrudged extra time for more topical anesthesia. Well, I could go on and on, but Deanna is great, and I couldn't recommend her more highly!

After seeing Deanna's before and after pictures of eyebrows I was pretty confident I had picked the right person, but now I AM POSITIVE. At the early age of 27 my eyebrows were practically nonexistent after over-plucking in my teens. Every day I was drawing in full eyebrows and terrified to go in the ocean or camping with friends in fear they would see my real brow, or lack there of. Deanna changed my life. She was so kind and understanding when we met and she assured me that her permanent makeup would change my life. It did. The procedure was painless and she designed a brow shape that is way better than anything I had ever penciled in. I am blonde so I was very concerned about the permanent makeup looking believable. To my delight, my eyebrows look completely natural and I get compliments on the shape of my eyebrows on a weekly basis. I will never have to pencil in my makeup again and I am so grateful. Deanna really is a miracle worker as far as I am concerned! Feel free to ask her for my before and after pictures to see for yourself. I recently had permanent eyeliner, lip liner and brows done by Deanna and I can't tell you how it has changes my life! I no longer look washed out when I wake up each morning. The best part is how natural it looks. The color of my brows are perfect and so is the shape. I am very active, and always like to look my best. Now I no longer worry about my makeup sweating off. I look great all the time and I LOVE IT!

After having a terrible experience with an eyebrow enhancement, I did some research and ultimately ended up seeing Deanna, of Art. of Perm. Makeup. We sat down and discussed what needed to be done to correct my eyebrows. My eyebrows were crooked, and looked like they had been drawn on with a dark Crayola.....it would be a multi-step process to undo all of this, but I was more than ready to begin. Deanna outlined all the steps needed to complete this process, the shape and color that was right for me, and the timeline for all. I am so happy with the results, and ended up having my eyes and lips enhanced, as well. Even if you need just a "touch up", for instance a thin area in your eyebrows, or a little color on your lips, Deanna is the person I recommend. If you are thinking about having any sort of permanent makeup applied, do not go to just anyone - I found out the hard way that the nail, hair salon, or eyebrow threading shop is not necessarily the best place to go when you want permanent makeup applied. This is an art, and not just anyone can do the precise, painstaking work which a procedure like this entails. So glad I did not give up, as the end results were worth it.
